Abstract An algebraic curve of order n can contain no more than (n-1)(n-2)/2 double points, if the points are greater than , the curve decomposes. But there are cases when the curve decays even for a smaller number of double points. An article is devoted to an analysis of such cases. The analysis showed the presence and nature of the "missing" double points of decaying curves. The number of double points necessary for the disintegration of the curve in all cases corresponded to the formula, but the "missing" points turned out to be by their nature imaginary isolated.
